Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir elections exit polls not to be published -- Election Commission guidelines

Baby Chakraborty:- The Election Commission issued a notification on Thursday saying that exit polls cannot be published in the upcoming Haryana and Jammu- Kashmir elections.
The Election Commission said that this period will be effective from 7 am on September 18 to 6 pm on October 5 th. Subsection 1A of 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 refers. Polling will be held in several places in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir on September 18, so campaigning is now in full swing in those areas. And counting of votes in these two places will be done on October 5th . Exit polls are usually released after polling ends on polling day. But the voting in Jammu and Kashmir will be in multiple phases.

Therefore, the exit poll results cannot be published before October 5. Incidentally, it is to be noted that after the partition of Jammu and Kashmir, it is going to be the first election since it was converted into a Union Territory. On the other hand, polling will be held in Haryana on October 1st.

Election Commission said that counting of votes will be done on October 5th due to the festival on that day, but counting of votes was said before October 4th.
