The Governor has indicated that the Raj Bhavan will not give clearance to the Aparajita Bill

Baby Chakraborty :- Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has hinted that Raj Bhavan will not give clearance to the ‘Aparajita’ bill passed by the state assembly. “No technical report has been sent by the state with this bill, which is necessary for giving clearance to the bill. Despite knowing that, the state has not sent any technical report,” claimed the governor. The Governor also said, “Aparajita Bill of Bengal is nothing new. It is just an imitation of Andha, Arunachal, Maharashtra Women’s Protection Bill.

These bills are now lying with the President. The Chief Minister deliberately brought such bills despite knowing it”. A statement from the Raj Bhavan said “It is the duty of the state government to send its technical report along with the bill. The state government has not sent it. This is not the first time that the state government has blamed the Raj Bhavan for withholding the bill despite not sending the technical report several times.” The statement added, “The Governor has communicated with the Chief Minister in this regard and said that the State should do more homework before introducing the Bill”.

As per custom, after any bill is passed, it is sent to the governor for his signature. If the governor signs it, it becomes law. And if the Governor cannot decide on a bill, then it is sent to the President. Then the President takes the final decision. Last Tuesday, the State Assembly unanimously passed the “Unprivileged Women and Children Bill”.

On the same day, the leader of opposition in the state, Subhendu Adhikari, said that as a responsible opposition, they will help pass the bill. The chief minister said, “Opposition leaders should ask the governor to approve the bill soon”. The Trinamool Mahila Morcha has informed that if the governor does not give clearance to the bill, they will sit on dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan.
