Baby Chakraborty, Kolkata:- The meeting between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and junior doctors has collapsed for the third time after the RG Kar scandal. Although the Chief Minister waited for almost two hours in Navanna on Thursday, the doctors did not turn up for the meeting. After this, in a press conference, Mamata Banerjee expressed her disappointment and expressed her desire to resign. She said, ‘I could not solve it even in three days. I apologize to the people of Bengal. I am willing to resign, but some don’t want justice, they want the chair of power.’
Since Tuesday, junior doctors have been sitting on a dharna in front of the health building to protest against the RG Kar scandal. Earlier, the Chief Minister had proposed a meeting with them twice but the meeting did not take place. The doctors demanded that the meeting be telecasted live and that the meeting be held with 30 delegates. However, the state government objected to both these conditions.
After the meeting broke up, Mamata Banerjee said, ‘I have been disrespected a lot. My government has been insulted. But I am not harboring any anger or grudge against the doctors. I have forgiven them.’ He further said, ‘Time has passed as directed by the Supreme Court, and many people are not getting treatment. Already 27 people have died and seven lakh people have been deprived of treatment.’
