
Baby Chakraborty: East Medinipur: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the flooded areas including Panshkura in East Medinipur on Thursday. On this day too, the Chief Minister reached the affected area by water. He expressed anger over the DVC releasing fresh water on Thursday despite objections from the state. The Chief Minister called for mass agitation against the planned flood situation at the Centre. Not only that, he directed the District Magistrate-Superintendent of Police to ensure that there is no shortage of relief to the victims.
On this day, the water came down in Panshkura and spoke to the local residents. The Chief Minister requested everyone to go to a safe place.
At the same time, Mamata expressed her anger against the DVC and the central government for releasing water again. He said, “These things are being done deliberately to endanger the state. And the central government is indifferent to the whole issue. DVC responsible for flooding. It is planned to drown Bengal to save Jharkhand. Notably, the continuous rains of the last few days and release from Maithon-Panchet Reservoir have caused flood situation in many districts of South Bengal including Howrah, Hooghly, Dui Medinipur, Jhargram, Purulia, Burdwan.
Complaining against the DVC, the Chief Minister said that more than 4 lakh cusecs of water has already been released. Never before has so much water been shed. He alleged that efforts are being made to sink Bengal to save Jharkhand. He said, “DVC has released new water today. I have ordered the District Magistrate to evacuate the area quickly. Crop insurance will be given to those whose crops have been destroyed.” Besides, there should be no dearth of relief to the victims. And the chief minister has ordered to make a list of those whose houses have been demolished.
