
Baby Chakraborty: West Medinipur:- District Magistrate Khurshed Ali Qadri and Superintendent of Police Dhritiman Sarkar visited Mothers Hub and Maternity Department at Ghatal Hospital in West Medinipur district on Tuesday. During the visit, 112 admitted women were given sarees, and 5 new-born mothers were given fruits and other items. Despite the flood situation, 112 expectant mothers from different flood prone areas of Ghatal were safely brought to the hospital. Some were admitted to the hospital under dangerous conditions using tractors, while others used Civil Defense and SDRF boats.
ASHA workers, doctors, civil defense and administration all worked together, resulting in no loss of life and the birth of newborns in a smooth process. According to sources, out of 112 admitted women, 56 mothers have already given birth and they have safely returned home as water recedes. Currently, 24 mothers with newborn babies are still hospitalized because their homes have water. In addition, more than 30 mothers are now reported to be well.
