Baby Chakraborty, West Medinipur :- Due to continuous rains and release of water from multiple streams, the situation is dire in the state. The situation is similar in several areas along the banks of the Kansai river in Debra block of West Midnipur district, including Bhavanipur, Bharatpur, Tabageria, Loada, Trilochanpur. The worst situation is in Trilochanpur area.
Houses in the area are still under water, food is scarce! Water-logged people are desperate for some drinking water. They also expressed anger against the administration. On Thursday, Debra Block of the flood-affected people came forward on behalf of the administration as well as several charitable organizations to help the water-bound residents. Relief materials and dry food were given to the affected people in the area.
In Debra Block, Trilochanpur, Tangashree, in multiple areas, there is only water and water in every direction! During the distribution of relief, the residents are swimming back to their families after standing in water with their eyes closed.
Tube wells in the area, roads and houses are all flooded! Somewhere there is waist-deep water on the road, and somewhere there is a person with chest-deep water. Residents are not getting even a drop of drinking water. A resident of the area with tears in his eyes said that several houses were still standing under the water, with tears in his eyes, we have never seen such a dire situation before. They are forced to drink dirty flood water to quench their thirst. Others are mixing alum in the flood water and drinking it.
Besides, they expressed anger against the administration and said that they have to cross a mouthful of water for about 3 kilometers to get government relief. Only then some dry food is available. All the houses in this area are under water, those who have double storied houses are living in some order. They are suffering hell due to excess water.
However, various well-wishers and organizations are distributing relief to the best of their ability, for now, the water-bound helpless families are spending their days with them. Durga Puja, the best festival of Bengali, is coming, but the joy of Umar has faded for them, the helpless families are spending one night under water to save their lives.
Meanwhile, heavy rain has started again in the low pressure clouds, the demonic rain of black clouds is writing a dark chapter in the life of helpless people. Residents trapped in water are practically disoriented by nature’s wrath. When will this nightmare end? They are praying to Uma.
