Baby Chakraborty : Alipurduar :- Residents of the area protested at Khagenhat in Falakata of Alipurduar on Saturday demanding the punishment of another accused who was arrested in the case of raping a 6-year-old child. There were also demands that the accused should be handed over to the mob. Residents protested by blocking the road on Saturday afternoon. In this incident, the other accused Mona Roy (40) died in the thrashing on Friday. Locals demanded the hanging of Mona’s relative Bhakta Roy, who was arrested in the case of ‘rape and murder’ of the minor on Saturday. Demonstrations were shown by burning tires on the streets.
Falakata BDO Aneek Roy and IC Samit Talukder reached the spot after receiving the information. Seeing them, the local residents started protesting. On Saturday, the child’s body was taken to MJN Hospital Medical College in Cooch Behar for autopsy. The minor’s father broke down in tears there. He said that his daughter wanted to eat meat on Friday. Returning from the field, he was going to buy meat. He cannot accept that the girl will not return home. With tears in his voice, he said, “I want the accused to be hanged”. After the rape and murder in Falakata, rape in Kumargram too! Within 24 hours, another minor was raped in Alipurduar district.
According to local sources, a neighbor has been accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old minor. It is alleged that the young man took her from the river and raped her. The minor is now fighting with death in Alipurduar district hospital. The accused neighbor was arrested by the police.
