Baby Chakraborty:- Tarpan is performed by women every year on Mahalaya day at Kumarpur Gundakata Kheyaghat on Kalnagini riverbed of Dholahat in South 24 Parganas district under the management of Manmathpur Pranab Mandir, Rural Sevakendra of Bharat Sevashram Sangh. This year also the mothers of surrounding villages participated in this fancy tarpan from early morning. In the plan of Swami Pranbananda Matri Suraksha Manch, mothers follow the rules and pray for the peace of the soul of their ancestors through Tarpan.
Before Tarpan, they circumambulated Shivkund, the ancient traditional gundakatar of that village. On the occasion of this event, former local teacher Ajay Kumar handed over alta and vermilion to 129 mothers on the occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Pradhan Swami Pranabanandaji Maharaj. Mothers glorify Goddess Shakti in Akal Bodhan attire for maternal awakening. After Tarpan, Khichuri Prasad was arranged for everyone by the Sangh.
