Baby Chakraborty :- The Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI investigation against Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Hospital, on allegations of financial corruption in the hospital. Dr. Sandeep Ghosh approached the Supreme Court challenging that order. After hearing the case on Friday, the Supreme Court rejected Dr. Sandeep Ghosh’s petition.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud clearly stated that the CBI will do the same as it is investigating the financial corruption case. At the moment the apex court will not interfere in this case. A section of lawyers think that Sandeep Ghosh has played a big blow in the Supreme Court. The case was heard on Friday in the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Manoj Mishra and JB Pardiwala. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud commented on several important issues in the hearing. He said, “A public interest case has been filed regarding financial corruption.
The investigation is going on under the supervision of the High Court. Hence there is no need for intervention”. After a long hearing, the court did not give special importance to the application of Sandeep Ghosh.
The hearing of rape and murder case is going on at RG Kar Hospital on Monday. So the CBI has been told to submit the status report on that day. It has been indicated by the Chief Justice that the court will take the next decision after seeing that report. However, Sandeep Ghosh’s lawyer raised questions about the role of former RG Kar Commissioner Akhtar Ali. Sandeep Ghosh’s lawyer said there are allegations against him. Can be transferred on complaint.
Even if this matter was filed in the High Court several times, it was dismissed. In one case the court even ordered a CBI investigation. Although the Supreme Court did not make any observations on Akhtar Ali, the police administration is there to see whether Akhtar Ali is guilty or innocent.
The agitating junior doctors of RG Kar Hospital welcomed the apex court order.
