Baby Chakraborty: Kolkata:- Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accepted the demands of junior doctors. Standing outside her residence at Kalighat at around 12 pm on Monday, the Chief Minister said that Vineet Goel should be removed from the post of Kolkata Police Commissioner following the rape and murder of a young doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The junior doctors demanded that their demand be accepted. Vineet will hold the post of Police Commissioner of Kolkata till 4 pm on Tuesday. Then the new Police Commissioner will be in Kolkata. But not only Vineet, but the junior doctors who raised the demand to be removed, almost all of them have been removed by the Chief Minister. Director of Health Debashis Halder and Director of Health-Education Kausthav Naik have been removed. Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Abhishek Gupta has also been transferred. Only the state health secretary Narayanaswaroop has kept the corporation in his post. The Chief Minister did not comment on Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (Central) Indira Mukherjee. However, the Chief Minister said that there will be several changes in Kolkata Police on Tuesday.
Under the pressure of the movement, the state government accepted the demands of the junior doctors. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accepted the demands of junior doctors. Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel, Director of Medical Education and Director of Health Services have also been dismissed. Mamata said the Kolkata Police (North), against whom Durgat’s family had filed bribery allegations, would also be dropped. Vineet will hand over the charge to the new CP at 4 pm, but the Health Secretary has been retained. The junior doctors received an email in this regard from Chief Secretary Manoj Pant at 11:48 am last Monday.
This is the fifth and final attempt by the government, the email said. After discussing it among themselves, the junior doctors said to attend the meeting. The doctors’ representatives who came to Kalighat for the meeting on Saturday, the agitating doctors were also requested to come on Monday. On this day, Mamata Banerjee accepted all the demands of the protesting junior doctors. After that, the junior doctors cheered in front of the health department. After a long time, the state administration succumbed to the pressure of the common people’s movement.
