Baby Chakraborty : Delhi :- After Mahua Maitra, Kalyan Banerjee, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale is involved in controversy this time. The MP from Mamata Banerjee’s party has been accused of forcibly stopping the Durga Jagan at MS Flats in Delhi’s Vishwambhar Das Marg. There are MS Flats in two separate blocks, Sindhu and Gomti, in Delhi’s Vishwambhar Das Marg. Sindh and Gomti Blocks house MPs and many Union Ministers. At the same time, their housekeepers live in MS flats. Domestic workers are residents of states like Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
It is known that the domestic workers observe Maa Durga’s Jagan for 35 days every year starting from Navratri. They spent those 35 days fasting and worshiping the goddess. The idol of Maa Durga will be dedicated on Monday. Devotees, including women, children, young and old, gathered at MS Flat on the day of the vigil. The vigil began at 5 p.m. As bhajans were being played on the music system, the police went and stopped the puja on the objection of Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhal. Elderly people went to Gokhal’s flat to complete the puja and made many requests. But it is alleged that Gokhale scolded them without listening to any of their words.
The police threatened to send the devotees to jail when they called it an insult to faith. Eventually people got scared and turned off the music system. The devotees then requested the police to allow them to sing Mata Rani’s hymns only by clapping their hands. The police were not prepared for this either. The devotees go back and the pandal sits in silence for the rest of the night. Although it is said that the Pujo Mandap is about 300 meters away from Saket’s flat.
Meanwhile, Saket Gokhale also refused to accept the invitation to participate in Maa Durga’s Bhandar and Jagran. According to residents of MS Flats, Saket Gokhale is the only MP who has done so.
