Baby Chakraborty, Calcutta:- Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech at the World Conference of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893 gave India a new impetus to fraternity. To commemorate the landmark event, a youth rally was organized at the foot of Swamiji’s statue in South Kolkata’s Chetla Park on Wednesday under the auspices of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture Golpark.
Ramakrishna Mission has been observing this day as World Brotherhood Day for 26 years. A grand procession was organized by the Ramakrishna Mission on this occasion. Starting from the foot of Swamiji’s statue in South Kolkata’s Chetla Park, the procession commemorates Ramakrishna Vivekananda including Advaita Ashram Seva Institution, Sarada Mission, Metropolitan Institution, Kathamrita Bhavan, Swamiji’s home, Balaram Temple, his school/house, mother’s house, Udyanbati, Barahnagar Mission and Math. Touching various places in Kolkata, it ended at the Adapith Temple in Dakshineshwar. Swami of Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture Golpark started the procession from the foot of Swamiji’s statue in Chetla Park.
Ishtabratanandji Maharaj. He said that “Hinduism is the mother of all religions, Hinduism accepts all religions. Religion means the progress of the nation. Nivedita’s fight was not only against the British rule but also for individual freedom.” After the auspicious inauguration of the procession, Swami Ishtabratanandaji Maharaj explained the importance of this day and the various philosophies of Swamiji in very eloquent terms.
Later, a religious gathering was organized by the Ramakrishna Mission at the Nat Mandir of the Adapith Temple. Dakshineshwar Ramakrishna Sangha Adapith Secretary Brahmachari Muralbai and Belur Mutt Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission Swami Nisthanandji Maharaj addressed the gathering. A large number of monks of Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission were present in this function among others.
